Eating plants is far more gentle on the environment than eating animals. Be vegan for animals, people and Earth.
Farming animals uses exponentially more resources such as fresh water than plant crop farming. Due to the massive quantities of urine and feces that animals produce, water pollution is enormously more problematic in animal farming. Water pollution is also a result of high levels of pesticides and herbicides used in mono-cropping feed crops for billions of farmed animals. We feed at least ten times the amount of plants in feed crops to animals as we would need to feed all the people on the planet directly with plants.
Our oceans are in a perilous state due to fishing industries which have deeply depleted the numbers of fish and other sea life.
Farming animals causes deforestation - extensive destruction of precious and irreplaceable resources like the Amazon rainforests, which function as the lungs for our planet. Farming animals also causes the decimation and eradication of many wild species of animals.
Raising animals versus plants for food requires many times more land. All of these issues will only become more important as the world human population grows. We are running out of resources to continue to feed ourselves with animals.
Factory farming of animals is a cruel, filthy, unhealthy and unsustainable way to feed ourselves. Eating only plants relieves enormous pressures on the Earth. Going vegan helps restore ecological balance which is crucial for our survival as a species.
