Eating a whole food plant-based no oil diet is the surest way to stay healthy. Top diseases which kill millions of people are largely caused by eating animals, and include heart disease, diabetes, stroke, cancer, autoimmune disorders, obesity, and more. These are reversible and preventable with proper plant-based diets. We are literally eating ourselves to death. But we can make healthier choices.
Animals are horrifically abused in a food production system that is totally unnecessary as well as totally unethical. Animals are not here for us to use for any purpose. They are not ours to treat violently, and eating them or any secretions that come from them such as milk or eggs is extensively violent. Peace comes to animals when we honor their rights and we leave them alone, as they deserve. And peace comes to our own conscience when we stop exploiting animals and eat plants instead.
Animal agriculture is one of the most environmentally destructive enterprises on Earth. It destroys natural resources like valuable topsoil and causes the pollution of oceans and other water bodies. Eating fish and other sea animals has led to the threat of no longer having life in our oceans. Raising animals covers the planet in enormous toxic quantities of feces and urine, hardly a way to respect Mother Earth. Animal agriculture destroys irreplaceable ecosystems such as rainforests. It is environmentally unsustainable.
Eating animals grossly abuses the animals and it also abuses people such as those who live in less affluent countries, where grain that could be fed to literally starving people is instead fed to farmed animals. People starve to death, so others can eat foods that make them sick. Workers in animal agriculture, particularly slaughterhouse workers, are some of the most vulnerable and oppressed populations of people, many of whom have no other options than to work in a PTSD-inducing job that no one else wants.
