Learning about the details involved in eating animals can trigger a huge wake-up call. We often do not question our habits or where our food comes from. But we must.
Most of us have been raised since childhood to eat animals and to regard them as being here for that purpose. But closer scrutiny reveals that our physiology is designed to eat plants, not animals.
Medical science has advanced. We now know that we get sick from preventable diseases caused by eating animals. We can thrive eating a healthfully balanced whole plant-based diet.
Ethically, eating animals is a moral quagmire. Since we know we can thrive on only plants, there is no acceptable reason to eat animals. Eating them causes massive suffering for animals and humans. Eating animals causes global environmental devastation.
It is time to awaken to the factual reality that we do not need to cage, exploit, harm, kill and eat animals, and that we are destroying ourselves, the animals and our planet by continuing to eat them.
We must rouse ourselves from the long-established stupor of unquestioned habit and tradition. If we do think sincerely about these issues we can awaken and move on to a better way of living for all.
